Macroscopic view: Chondrosarcoma of diaphysis of the femur. Lobulated, white to grayish white, semitransparent hyalinized cartilaginous tumor proliferation is seen within the medullary cavity. Destruction of bony cortex or invasive manner into the soft tissue is not seen. Frequently occurs in middle aged to elderly persons with the prevelant sites of occurrence including pelvis, proximal femur, proximal humerus, ribs, etc.
