Microscopic view (Papanicolau stain, high power view): Nuclear inclusion bodies are also seen in cytology performed on BAL (bronchial alveolar lavage) fluid. These characteristic large cells with intranuclear inclusions are referred to as “owl’s eye” nuclei.
