Microscopic image (HE stain, intermediate power): Mid-sized portal areas show fibrosis and inflammatory infiltrates composed mainly of lymphocytes. Damaged (?) interlobular bile ducts, surrounded by an inflammatory reaction, are gradually destroyed.
