Microscopic finding (HE stain, high power view): Hepatocytes show ballooning degeneration and most of the cells contain cytoplasmic eosinophilic Mallory bodies (red arrows). Neutrophilic infiltrates and steatosis are also seen. Hepatocellular plate architecture is distorted.
